A Sample Short Story
The Alchemy of The Red Egg
Jessica was a well respected alchemist that traveled the world to share her tremendous gift. On one of her many journeys she found an enchanted land inhabited by a community of clover fairies. The fairies were no taller than a rose petal and wore tall clover shaped hats. The fairies had long hair that would trip them up when walking on foot so they preferred to fly. The fairies could also tell the future, so they knew and were prepared to meet Jessica upon her arrival. They eagerly awaited her help with a large mysterious egg that had recently rolled into their city. The egg didn’t look like a usual egg, it was blood red and emitted a buzzing sound whenever approached. The chosen faerie ambassador flew to Jessica’s ear and told her about the buzzing egg. Jessica was intrigued and immediately took out her notebook. She wondered what sort of creature could produce such an egg.
“Can you take me to the egg?” Jessica asked the fairy.
The fairies gathered and pulled Jessica by her pale blue cape and gently sat her down in the city of the clover fairies. Jessica found the egg and heard the buzzing. As Jessica moved closer, the egg began to crack. Jessica took a shaker of salt from her messenger bag and sprinkled it on the egg, and then threw on a handful of nearby wild flowers. The blood red egg shook and buzzed and all the clover fairies flew away. CRACK!! The egg opened and revealed a small red cat with three eyes. The small red cat’s mouth opened and the buzzing grew even louder. Jessica was delighted! She scooped up the small red three eyed cat and proclaimed “Oh! This animal that shines! You shall be mine!”
Jessica pulled a golden bone from her pocket and placed it in the mouth of the cat. Just as the fairies returned, Jessica waved goodbye. The buzzing red three eyed cat sat happily on her head as she danced away to her next adventure.
